Engineering software provider gives UTC £200k suite after Baker Dearing event

Scarborough UTC has developed an exciting partnership with engineering simulation software multinational Ansys, in yet another example of UTCs working with industry to deliver a high-quality technical education for young people.

After the UTC’s students met with the company at an F1 in Schools UK event hosted by Baker Dearing last year, Ansys will be providing Scarborough UTC with access to their complete suite of simulation software, valued at around £200,000.

This will support the UTC’s engagement with F1 in Schools but it will also be integrated into the curriculum, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with industry-leading simulation tools, significantly enhancing their engineering, design, and analytical skills.

The UTC will also be working with Ansys to design and develop a virtual test environment, where students can upload their F1 in Schools car designs and critically analyse various aspects of car performance. This will allow them to adjust input variables based on whether they are taking part in regional, national, or world finals and simulate real-world race conditions.

Very few students taking part in F1 in Schools have access to Ansys software, which is used on degree level engineering courses. Our thanks to Ansys for their ongoing support of the UTC programme. We cannot wait to see what students achieve with this software.
