A UTC Sheffield team has got through to the next stage of a global competition after being selected for WorldSkills Squad UK.
Brad Ellison, Paul Hayter, and Kamil Zmich, are among 137 apprentices and students from across the country who have been chosen for the team after winning competitions at WorldSkills UK.
All three are engineering alumni from UTC Sheffield City Centre, which is Ofsted graded ‘good’. More than 80 countries take part in WorldSkills. The next stage will be the team selection for WorldSkills Shanghai 2021 in China.

WorldSkills UK showcases technical education to inspire more young people to choose vocational careers, and aims to create a world-class skill system to support economic growth, productivity and competitiveness.
The national finals held last term, at Birmingham NEC from November 21st to 23rd, attracted 500 competitors from colleges, universities and industry and involved 70 different skills categories.

At UTC Sheffield City Centre, students complete technical qualifications equivalent to between one and three A-Levels as well as GCSEs and A levels. They also work on employer-led projects, developing skills related to the subject specialism as well as team working and problem-solving.
The £10 million UTC is equipped with cutting edge industry-standard facilities. Employers supporting the UTC include AES Seal, Bauer Media Group, Fernite, Festo, Finger Industries, Henry Boot Construction, Hive, Lavender International, Rolls-Royce, Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield Live, the University of Sheffield, Siemens and Sumo Digital.
