Baker Dearing International is pleased to have appointed as its Chair the former Skills Minister, Chair of the Commons Education Select Committee and MP for Harlow Robert Halfon.
Announcing his appointment on LinkedIn, Halfon wrote: “I’m delighted to share that I have been appointed as Chair of Baker Dearing International, the organisation behind the global expansion of University Technical Colleges (UTCs).
“Throughout my career as MP for Harlow and as Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education, I have been a passionate advocate for UTCs. These institutions represent what I’ve long championed – breaking down the artificial divide between academic and technical education to create true parity of esteem.
“Baker Dearing International works to establish UTCs worldwide, providing technical education that bridges the gap between academic learning and practical workplace skills. The organisation partners with governments, businesses, and educational institutions to develop UTCs adapted to local needs while maintaining the core principles that have made the UK model so successful.”
This work is already underway and we look forward to working with partners to deliver solutions based on the successful UTC model.
