Young Engineers UK announced that Energy Coast UTC has been selected as a finalist for Young Engineer School of the Year 2017. 600 schools entered the competition this year and only 6 schools have been selected to go through to the final.
Finalists were selected based on the strength of their student Engineering projects, their Engineering curriculum and how students are prepared for careers in Engineering. The Energy Coast UTC had a wealth of evidence to support their bid including, ‘The GreenPower Challenge’, winning the Royal Navy competition – ‘Operation Antarctica’, a trip to CERN, and providing STEM activities to local schools.
Graeme Jackson, Head of Engineering, Energy Coast UTC and the team of four students and a teacher will travel to the Big Bang Fair, to be held in Birmingham from the 15–18 March, to compete in a final complex engineering challenge with five other schools.
