The Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves MP and Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden both visited UTCs on 30 April, in a tremendous profile boost for the entire programme.
Reeves attended a Northern Growth Strategy Reception at UTC Sheffield City Centre, where she met with Baker Dearing Chairman Stephen Phipson and CEO Kate Ambrosi. Joining the visit was former home and education secretary Lord Blunkett, two of whose grandchildren attend the UTC.

Earlier in the day, Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden MP visited UTC Derby Pride Park, accompanied by Derby MPs Baggy Shanker and Catherine Atkinson, both of whom are key members of the UTC MP Technical Education Policy Group in Parliament. Ambrosi, UTC Principal Lee Kirkwood and the Executive Principal and CEO of Sheffield UTC Academy Trust Nick Crew showed the visitors around the UTC.

Baker Dearing facilitates engagement between UTCs and political leaders including Cabinet ministers to raise awareness of the success of the UTC programme and help build support for its expansion, including through the UTC Sleeve initiative.
We would like to thank Rachel Reeves MP, Pat McFadden MP, Baggy Shanker MP, and Catherine Atkinson MP for visiting; UTC Derby Pride Park, UTC Sheffield City Centre, and Sheffield UTC Academy Trust for hosting
