Baker Dearing delivers workshops for schools and employers on MBacc Award

Baker Dearing is immensely proud to have run workshops on the MBacc Award that we are developing with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), as part of its MBacc offer, to create potentially transformative opportunities for young people to thrive in life and work.

We would like to offer our thanks to the GMCA for working with us to develop the award. Baker Dearing is also working to develop UTC Sleeves for the region. These would involve a high-quality, technical education pathway within existing schools, helping spread the advantages of a UTC education to more young people.

On 11 March, we delivered an interactive workshop with the GMCA’s Youth Employment and Opportunities team on the award. This was one of fortnightly workshops that YEO organises to create a space for them to share thinking and collaborate.

We hosted an interactive activity that helped colleagues to think of what schools would need to deliver the MBacc, what may be the risks and barriers to engagement, and ideas to strengthen delivery.

A huge thanks to the YEO team for inviting us and to everyone who attended.

Then on 26 March, Baker Dearing delivered a workshop at AtkinsRéalis‘ Manchester offices on employer projects for the MBacc Award.

Deputy Principal of UTC South Durham Catherine Purvis-Mawson delivering an excellent session to the attendees of the 26 March workshop.

A huge thanks to her and those organisations that took part in the workshop: Siemens, Alstom, Science and Industry Museum, MBDA, Oldham College, University Collegiate School. We would also like to thank AtkinsRéalis for hosting and helping deliver this workshop.
