Following the publication of The Labour Party’s election manifesto, Baker Dearing Educational Trust chief executive Simon Connell commented:

“We welcome Labour’s commitment to commission an expert led review of the school curriculum.

“The curriculum has become far too narrow, excluding the technical subjects which give young people the grounding to progress onto positive destinations such as apprenticeships and degree-level STEM courses.

“UTCs have become an outlier for delivering specialist technical subjects at pre 16.

“It is vital, however, that this review takes in the full breadth of views and considers technical as well as creative and academic subjects.”
