Baker Dearing comments on plan for school enrichment framework

Following the Department for Education‘s release of additional details on the enrichment framework first announced in the Schools White Paper, Baker Dearing has issued the following response from CEO Kate Ambrosi.

“We welcome the announcement of more details on the enrichment benchmarks, which are intended to promote opportunities for young people to develop, for example, STEM skills, arts and cultural appreciation, and civic engagement.

“We must ensure there is an equal balance of opportunities, and therefore an equitable distribution of resources and funding, between the different categories. This will ensure young people can fully explore different pathways and find their passion.

“Schools will also need guidance on how to deliver these opportunities. Especially in STEM, which requires specialist equipment and teaching to deliver experiences of a high-enough quality.

“We look forward to more young people accessing the life-changing benefits of STEM education as a result of this ambitious new framework. We are confident this will lead to more people finding technical careers and avoiding economic inactivity.”
