Baker Dearing is pleased to announce a further grant from Garfield Weston Foundation which has been a supporter since 2013 with previous grants significantly helping to expand the UTC programme.
In September 2021, the Trustees of Garfield Weston Foundation agreed a grant of £250,000 to support Baker Dearing’s core costs over the next two years. This generous grant will help ensure the 17,500 young people studying at UTCs benefit from the unique nature of this career-focused education.
“This funding is vital to our ongoing work and will help us continue in our mission to support all staff at University Technical Colleges (UTCs) to transform the lives of their students. As economies adjust to the ‘new normal’ following the Covid-19 crisis, UTCs have become even more relevant in building the skills and capabilities this country needs.”
Lord Baker, Chairman
In particular, this grant will enable us to provide more concentrated support on partnership work and employer engagement for UTCs with a focus on employer-led UTC-wide projects, careers events, CPD and competitions. Projects will include building a new partnership of ECO UTCs and developing an offer to support the girls attending UTCs across England as well as support for Baker Dearing’s five technical specialism networks.
To achieve this, we are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic project coordinator who is passionate about working with UTCs. For details of the vacancy and application process, please see the full job description here.
