Baker Dearing and Morgan Sindall Infrastructure were pleased to welcome employer partners from across the north west to Energy Coast UTC on Thursday 29 January.
The event showcased one of our fantastic UTCs and celebrated Baker Dearing’s new partnership with Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, which was signed last year and covers the whole national programme of UTCs. It was also an opportunity for representatives to better understand how we are advancing opportunities for young people to access high-quality technical education.

The UTC’s chair Andrew Wild, CEO Cherry Tingle, and Head of School Kerryann Wilson gave a highly informative introduction, which was followed by an excellent presentation by Morgan Sindall Infrastructure’s Kathryn Walker about the company’s projects for students. Energy Coast’s Vice Principal Simon Richardson then spoke about the projects from the UTC’s perspective.
Two of the UTC’s excellent alumni, Lauren Moore and Lyla Chandler, both of whom now work at Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, also discussed the experience they received when they were students. Baker Dearing CEO Kate Ambrosi further spoke about the UTC programme and the trust’s role.

It was a pleasure to show visitors around this high-quality UTC, to introduce them to the staff and students, and to hear from them about their own work and challenges.
Thank you to everyone for attending. A special thanks again to Morgan Sindall Infrastructure for supporting this event, and Energy Coast UTC for hosting.
