UTC and school students take part in STEM Inspiration Day

Baker Dearing has today supported a STEM inspiration day at Aston University, co-run with STEM Racing, where 72 students from 7 UTCs and schools have been learning more about the career pathways open to them.

Students went around a carousel of sessions, including on-track racing with STEM Racing’s signature model race cars (pictured below) and talks from engineering simulation software company Ansys and engineering design company Autodesk.

Brook Sixth Form and Academy students using the F1 Racing track.

They also received a tour of the university, which between 2020 and 2025 accepted the highest number of UTC leavers of any university. There was also a talk from Scarborough UTC alumni on how student teams can enter the STEM Racing competitions and what judges will be looking for.

A huge thanks to Tom Milner from STEM Racing, Aston University, Ansys, and Autodesk, and the four Scarborough UTC alumni for supporting today’s event.

Thanks also to the UTCs and schools that have attended today: UTC Derby Pride Park, Newhouse Academy, Waterfront UTC, The JCB Academy, Lincoln UTC, Brook Sixth Form and Academy, and Scarborough University Technical College.
