Theo, 15 years, and Kearney, 16, were interviewed in front of the Palace of Westminster on Budget Day.

The BBC News Channel presenter Jane Hill, who interviewed Kearney and Theo, said:

I could talk to you both for so much longer, it’s my favourite interview today.

Kearney is studying A-level Maths and Level 3 diploma in Engineering and Built Environment. She wants to become a civil engineer and hopes to secure an apprenticeship when she leaves LDE UTC.

As well as his GCSEs, Theo is studying iMedia Creative Computing, Chinese (Mandarin), Built Environment. He changed schools because he really liked the strong employer links at LDE and the opportunity to focus on STEM.

Geoffrey Fowler, Principal at London Design and Engineering UTC, felt Kearney and Theo did a brilliant job and said:

You are both an absolute credit to our school and the UTC movement. The way you both spoke with confidence answering quick fired questions would leave most professionals “umming and arring”.
