Eight more UTCs chosen to deliver T-Levels from 2022

Eight UTCs have been chosen by the Department for Education to deliver new T-Levels from September 2022.

The following UTCs have been selected: Crewe Engineering and Design UTC, Lincoln UTC, The JCB Academy, University Technical College Norfolk, UTC Sheffield City Centre, UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, UTC South Durham, and WMG Academy for Young Engineers.

In addition to these eight, a further three UTCs have already been selected to launch T-Levels: The Leigh UTC will be offering a digital T-Level from this September, and Thomas Telford UTC and Mulberry UTC, will both deliver T-Levels starting in September 2021.

T-Levels combine classroom theory, practical learning, and industry placements with an employer to ensure students have real experience of the workplace. The courses take two years to complete, offering a technical alternative to A-Levels. With specialist teaching staff, industry standard equipment, and strong employer links, UTCs are well-placed to deliver these high-quality technical qualifications.

Lord Baker, Chairman Baker Dearing Educational Trust said;

“I’m delighted so many UTCs have been selected to deliver the Engineering and Manufacturing T-Levels in 2022. This is a clear endorsement from government for UTCs and their role in providing high quality technical qualifications which meets the changing needs of students and employers in the 21st Century.”

Liam McDaid, Principal & Chief Executive, Crewe Engineering and Design UTC said:

“We are thrilled to be selected to offer the Engineering Manufacture T-Level from 2022. At Crewe Engineering and Design UTC, technical education is at the heart of what we do and offering the T-Level to our future students will support our vision. Students already have an opportunity to work with large engineering and design companies such as Bentley, National Rail James Walker and many more. This qualification will ensure the students are ready for a challenging and rewarding career in the sector.”
